Public Display CMS

Syndication Manager
Syndication. Feeds. RSS. Atom. Podcasting. The technology comes in many forms and many names. But regardless of what you call it, the adoption of “feeds” is both broad and popular because of its unique effectiveness. RSS feeds have emerged in a variety of ways that provide alternative and productive methods for many information purposes. The array of possibilities for RSS feeds represents an opportunity to extend the reach of information resources; for public syndication as well as internal corporate knowledge syndication.
Syndication is a great way to aggregate data from a source and give a quick snapshot. In the context of NetXposure, this can mean syndicating new assets, making it easier to show aggregated corporate information, and providing a powerful way to promote assets to the organization or communities.
PODCASTING
One of the more well known ways to accomplish this is through “Podcasting”. This is usually associated with audio, and increasingly video content. The NetXposure Syndication Module provides for easy syndication of these file formats to a variety of devices, including Apple iPods. Additionally, feeds can be created that speak directly to Apple’s iTunes Store for tasks that require a very public syndication of content.
CUSTOM PUBLISHING
RSS feeds allow for the separation of content data from the presentation, making it easier to combine information from a variety of sources and creating custom sites. In many cases, publishing simple RSS feeds from your NetXposure repository can feed your own internal and perhaps external “mashup” applications that combine assets in a variety of combinations and presentations.
* Extend your NetXposure repository with content syndication for: Direct mass communication with employees and/or external partners, on either a mass level or also employing personalization and customization to make sure only the most relevant content is distributed to the right people.
* Targeted and secure in-house communications between employees and teams, which also includes project collaboration.
* External RSS feed publishing in order to communicate with prospects, customers, business partners, the media and other target audiences.
* Republishing syndicated content on corporate sites in order to easily display focused industry news from multiple sources.
* RSS advertising, which in the context of enterprise RSS would especially mean ad campaign management capabilities and syndication.
* Custom display publishing – one packaged example of this is NetXposure’s PDP Factory Module (see accompanying brochure for more information).

Public Display CMS Module

The purpose of NetXposure’s Public Display CMS technology is to provide a seamless and simplistic content management system to program digital content (e.g. image slideshows, video, live content, dynamic software applications) that will be remotely delivered to publicly viewable clients such as display monitors and interactive kiosks. Technically, Public Display CMS relies on NetXposure’s Syndication

technology, which provides standard XML feeds including RSS and Atom. The Public Display CMS module makes remote URL calls to the DAM, reading the XML configuration files so that it can authenticate against the DAM. Once registered it will communicate with the DAM periodically, looking for syndication updates such as the URL and name of the feed to pull from the DAM, so that it can display the associated content on the client monitor.

The Public Display CMS module is built with Adobe AIR technology, so it’s easy to install and runs on all major platforms (Windows, Mac, and even Linux). The only requirements are a client PC or Mac with the following: Adobe AIR, a network connection, and the Display CMS application. The client is a double-click install, and takes seconds to configure and deploy. All content selection is done from the main Digital Asset Management application, making administration a breeze — you can change your content from anywhere!
