NetXposure's AIR-based Importer
The NetXposure Importer is a tool built from AIR technology that enables “drag-n-drop” importing from the desktop. Included in all NetXposure DAM solutions as a free download, the NetXposure Importer starts up just like any other desktop application on a Mac or PC. A pop up window appears for logging into the system, and the user is then presented with a mirror of the file structure in the DAM.
The user can then select files from their desktop and drag them right into the DAM via the NetXposure Importer window. Whether it’s a group of files, a folder with hundreds of files, or large videos that would normally get hung up uploading through a traditional web user interface, the NetXposure Importer makes a direct connection to the server and ingests the files into the system much more efficiently.

Simply drag-and-drop files into their respective categories from your desktop.
While the files are being imported the user is presented with a status progress bar, and then an import report once the files are in the system. There is also the option to add custom metadata to the files at the point of drag-n-drop, saving the user the time of finding assets in the DAM and adding metadata later. In addition, all permission settings in the DAM are inherited by the NetXposure Importer, so users can only import to categories they are supposed to access.
NetXposure Importer Benefits:
- Makes web-based app (NetXposure DAM) behave like desktop app for importing
- Fast, efficient upload of large volumes of files
- Add Metadata at the point of drag-n-drop
- Same user experience for Mac and PC
- Permission settings in the DAM are inherited by the NetXposure Importer
NetXposure was the first company to release a Digital Asset Management solution built in Adobe Flex – a technology for developing highly expressive Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) that deploy consistently across all major browsers, desktops, and operating systems. Among the many advantages of an Adobe Flex solution is that it can utilize Adobe AIR technology.

Adobe Integrated Runtime, or simply "AIR".
Adobe AIR technology is a cross-operating system runtime that allows developers to use proven web technologies to build Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) that deploy to the desktop. Applications utilizing AIR technology provide the same Web-based deployment benefits while adding desktop integration and local data access. Or said another way, Adobe AIR can make web-based applications like NetXposure’s DAM behave like desktop applications for certain functions.
