Metadata Manager

Metadata attributes are custom to the customer's needs.

Metadata attributes are custom to your needs.

All NetXposure Enterprise DAM solutions come with basic metadata functionality.  This includes the ability to create up to 50 custom metadata attribute fields in the form of text boxes, text fields, standard pull-down menus, multi-selection menus, date fields, and number fields. Custom metadata is stored in the database, but tied to the file name and is indexed for keyword search and retrieval of assets.  There is also the ability to “Sync” metadata embedded in files (Dublin Core, EXIF, IPTC, Photoshop, PDF, XMP, and more), mapping the data to the custom fields in the DAM, and then back to the file if necessary (roundtrip sync).

For customers that need more advanced metadata capability than the basic functionality described above, NetXposure offers the Metadata Manager module.  This module allows for the creation of unlimited custom metadata fields.  It also lets administrative users set up metadata templates so unique metadata criteria can be tied to specific asset categories, user groups or individual assets.

There tend to be two types of customers that need the Metadata Manager module in their DAM solution.  The first is the agency providing DAM as a value added service to multiple customers.  In this case the agency handles all system administration, but creates user groups for each of their customers, giving each user group access to specific categories of assets. Each customer group would then have their own template of metadata stored with their assets.

The second common use case example is the large organization with multiple, distinct business divisions.  This could be a holding company managing multiple brands, or a company that may have a Marketing department that uses different metadata criteria to manage assets then each of the other major departments (Sales, R&D, IT, Finance, etc.).  In these cases, the Metadata Manager module is used to create unique metadata templates for each business division.

Essentially, the Metadata Manager module is for organizations with advanced workflows that depend greatly on metadata that is accurate, well organized, and unique to multiple business units.
