EC Kit
(DAM + Ecommerce)

OVERVIEW
ECKit enables organizations to turn digital assets into a  profit center.  This robust Ecommerce application seamlessly  syncs with NetXposure’s Digital Asset Management solution,  providing a secure and easy-to-use system for selling goods  online.
THE APPROACH
NetXposure’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) application  is a great management tool, but by itself does not provide  the full functionality and flexibility necessary for Ecommerce.  Therefore, ECKit runs as a separate interface, relying on the  data contained within the DAM application — categories, assets  and attributes. However, the user roles are entirely different  between the DAM users and ECKit users; therefore, users within  ECKit are purposefully separate from the DAM application, and  ECKit users are not allowed to login to NetXposure and vice  versa. Additionally, the order details are managed and stored  within ECKit and not the DAM application. In this way, each  application focuses on what it does best, instead of confusing  various users by exposing them to both functions at once.
FRONT END
The front-end site provides all the Ecommerce basics:
• Browse
• Search
• Zoom
• Register
• Add to Cart
• Purchase
The front-end comes with default templates, however  NetXposure recommends that these templates be used merely  as a starting point for your own custom look-and-feel. These  templates are composed of standard HTML, CSS, JavaScript  and custom JSP tags. You can do the customizations yourself,  or you can hire us to do them for you. While users of ECKit are  free to browse your site anonymously, they are required to  register for any ordering. Registered users in ECKit are distinct  and separate from Users in NetXposure. Only the category and  asset data is mirrored from NetXposure to ECKit.
You need not expose all your assets. ECKit is configured to  provide data starting at a designated category — you can  segment the DAM application such that only sub-categories  and their respectively linked assets will be viewable by ECKit  users.
BACK-OFFICE
ECKit provides a number of standard back-office functions, including management of:
• Users
• Orders
• Product Specifications (analogous to a SKU)
ECKit is meant to function as a digital goods system, and  therefore does not encumber the administrator with the  complexities of inventory management; it is assumed there is  no need for such a function.
The following is a list of some of the back-end functions for administrative use included in ECKit:
Search Orders: a variety of criteria including order number,  credit card authorization code,  user login, and purchase date  can be used to find orders.
Order List: Orders are listed as clickable links with all relevant information including customer, order time and purchase amount.
Order Display: A full display page for each order is available with all transaction and user details.
Site Activity Statistics: Provides site activity data including Categories Viewed, Products Added to Cart, Products Purchased, Total Orders, User Logins and Total Registrations.
Product Spec Wizard: Allows ECKit vendors to create virtual variations on their digital assets such as size, format and resolution. Options are entirely customizable and configurable with the option to exclude certain combinations (eg., “TIFF / high-res” is available, but “TIFF / low-res” is not).
