OVERVIEW
The Image Portal module is the primary component included
in all of NetXposure's core Digital Asset Management (DAM)
licenses. Open standards friendly and built with a Services
Oriented Architecture, this core solution has the flexibility
to extend and scale to the needs of any organization. While
Image Portal is a robust DAM solution unto itself, a suite of
Add-on modules is available to facilitate the requirements of
unique workflows.
A TRULY WEB-BASED SOLUTION
Unlike many DAM systems that offer Web modules as an
after-thought, Image Portal was built from its inception to be
Web-based solution. Mac or PC. Safari, Explorer, Firefox, or
Netscape. To the end user it doesn't matter because Image
Portal is accessible from any browser that is connected to the
Web - no client side components are needed. Whether it's a
salesperson on the road,
an art director working
from home, or a partner
accessing digital assets
from around the globe, a
truly Web-based solution
translates into truly
efficient collaboration.
FLEXIBLE & CUSTOMIZABLE
Unlike other systems
that lock data in an
encrypted "black box",
NetXposure applications
are based on open
standard technologies,
and are built to be as
flexible as possible with ability to integrate into a wide variety
of technology environments. Image Portal works with thirdparty
JDBC-compliant databases and popular Application
Servers (see the back page for details). In case you already
have a complex legacy workflow, NetXposure's Professional
Services Team can further customize the application to meet
your specific needs.
EXENSIBILITY & INTEGRATION
Image Portal was built to be a centralized "digital asset hub"
that can seamlessly sync with any work-in-progress project
or other custom workflow. A Services Oriented Architecture
enables integration with just about any modern application
- Ecommerce, CMS, ERP, CRM, production databases, Adobe
Creative Suite 3 - you name it, in most cases NetXposure can
integrate with it via SOAP and WSDL.
PERFORMANCE & SCALABILITY
At the heart of Image Portal is Exogen, NetXposure's proprietary
J2EE-based Application Framework developed for deploying
Enterprise Web-based applications. Image Portal leverages
Exogen's uniquely powerful performance, security, scalability
and integration features to be efficient and dependable no
matter how large the deployment. Many license options are
available to meet the scalability and performace needs of any
organization.
SECURITY &
ADMINISTRATION
Administrators control
access to assets both on
the user and asset level.
Users can be assigned
to one of seven different
functionality levels, and
unlimited user groups
can be created to help
manage specific access
roles. Image Portal
utilizes a flexible and
powerful Access Control
List (ACL) system for
granular access control
over assets. This security system can be integrated directly
into your existing Directory Server, centralizing control and
drastically reducing configuration time and overall security
maintenance. Additionally, Image Portal can be augmented
with standard security technologies, including Certificationbased
access control, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption,
and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
Image Portal : Features
Unlimited Category Hierarchy
An unlimited number of asset categories and sub-categories
can be created in a cascading hierarchy to organize files.
Multiple category view options are available.
50 Customizable Metadata Fields
Each asset can be assigned up to 50 customizable metadata
fields in the form of text boxes, text areas, pull down menus,
or date fields. All are keyword searchable. For additional
metadata capability see the Metadata Manager module sheet.
Acces Control
Access is controlled in two ways: One of seven different
functionality levels can be assigned to each user. An ACLbased
Permissions system allows administrators to restrict
access on the file and category levels for both individual users
and user groups.
LDAP Suport
Communicate with an external LDAP-compliant Directory
Servers for user authentication, access level assignments,
and quicker asset disbursements. Includes SunOne Directory
Server, OpenLDAP, and Microsoft Active Directory.
Importing and Exporting
Options for importing and exporting include: Web Interface
(direct download, email, and FTP), WebDAV, Watched Folder,
File System Synchronization, Web Services API, SQL database
queries, and Adobe CS3 Version Cue DAM-direct plug-in.
Auto -Thumbnail Generation
While Image Portal can store any file type, it has auto-thumbnail
generation capability for the following formats: BMP, GIF, JPEG,
PCX, PNG, PNM, PSD, TIFF, and Adobe CS2+ formats.
Image Repurposing
Basic image repurposing for most image formats includes size,
format and colorspace. For advanced repurposing options see
Repurposing Engine module sheet.
Pan & Zoom
A powerful Pan & Zoom tool allows users to zoom deep into an
image, pan in any direction and drag around the viewing area.
Adobe Creati ve Suite 3 Conector
Assets in the Image Portal repository are accessible from the
Adobe CS3 point applications via Bridge and Version Cue using
a DAM-direct plug-in. Accessible functions include browsing,
searching, opening with point applications, importing, check
in / check out, versioning, deleting, metadata viewing and
metadata enforcement.
Cart Management / Batch Tas king
The Cart can be utilized to perform batch tasks to multiple
files at once such as metadata editing, basic repurposing, asset
linking, category re-assignment, and downloading. Custom
Carts can be saved for repeat use and sharing among users.
Versioning (Chec k in / Chec k Out )
Assets can be checked out and locked until they are checked
back in. A history of changes to an asset can be maintained in
a version repository with notes, dates, and user info on each
file. Any version can be reactivated as the default.
Auto -Tas king
Repetitive tasks can be automated upon file import by setting
up Auto-tasks that include repurposing, metadata assignment,
file naming, category assignment, and distribution.
Advanced Searching
Leveraging embedded search engine technology, users quickly
locate files even among large repositories. Precision searches
are narrowed and sortable by specific keywords, file categories,
metadata attributes, modification and creation date, format,
size, and text of PDF and MS Office documents. Searches can
be named and saved and referred to later.
Statistics Reporting
Analyze system activity on the user and asset level with
dynamically generated charts, graphs, and detailed reports.
Language Localization
The user-interface is configurable by browser setting. Available
languages include: English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese,
and Korean.
